To electrify a lazy holiday news week there’s got to be a good rumor for iPad 3 that should be making rounds around the digital world. With some likely technical specifications Apple is rumored to launch another version of its popular tablet PC.
A report published by an electronics industry journal alleges that iPad maker is getting ready to introduce 2 new and exclusive versions of its ever popular tablet PC in January at the Macworld event which is now commonly known as iWorld. Macworld event was abandoned by Apple in the year 2009 and has taken over by iWorld. Rumor has been doing rounds around the internet world for last few months that Apple is going to introduce higher resolution iPad tablets on same size (9.7” screens of iPad & iPad 2) displays.
Well nothing is too unexpected with the introduction of high resolution displays; however the upcoming launch in January of these versions with different camera specifications by Apple is somewhat unbelievable at its best. Interestingly, you won’t find Apple on the iWorld’s exhibitor list and had previously parted ways from Macworld as the company didn’t want to showcase its products in electronics industry business expos anymore. Taking a u-turn from its previous decision would be quite intriguing for Apple.
Recent update regarding the rumors: Loop Insight’s Jim Dalrymple has received a tip from Apple insiders that iWorld event will have no iPad 3 launch. All these sources had no answer related to the device specifications, so we believe that the rumors of high resolution iPad 3 screen looks to be quite true and regular out there in the digital world.
Apple was ordered to pay a hefty fine of $1.2 million on misleading business practice charges in Italy.
Italy court slapped Apple with a fine of $1.2 million (aprox. 900,000 euros) for purportedly encouraging consumers to pay and sign up for its technical support, termed as AppleCare service.
According to local laws, every company in Italy is required to offer 2 years of free technical support for each and every product; however Apple was mischievously selling its AppleCare support service without educating customers about 2 years free support with a new product purchase.
As per Apple website: All Apple hardware comes with a one-year limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary telephone technical support. To extend your coverage further, purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan or AppleCare+ for iPhone.
AppleCare is one of the most important income generators out of after purchases. Apple provides different options to purchase protection plans on almost all of its products available in the market.
The AppleCare service is now known as AppleCare+, and costs about $99 which was updated earlier this year by Apple to offer technical support and any related manufacturer warranties for over 2 years. AppleCare+ also includes 2 accidental damage repairs as opposed to one in the previous plan.
Other popular protection plans from Apple cost about $59 for the iPod Touch, $349 for the MacBook Pro, whereas $169 for the ever-green iMac devices.
At the time of this publication, we hadn’t heard anything from Apple regarding misleading business practices and the fine slapped by government of Italy; however Apple need not worry about it, as the company has billions stashed away in banks from the sales of iProducts.

Summary: Samsung has an official starting price for its Android tablet the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and tablet PC consumers will probably detest it.
The current price-range for Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi will give you an excellent idea as to why Android tablets have had tough time making a mark in the tablet PC market.
Samsung has announced that the 16GB version tablet PC with WiFi options will be priced at $469, whereas the 32 GB device will be sold for $569. If you were thinking of getting one, think again because the screen-size of 8.9” is much smaller than the Apple iPad 2, and the sky-high asking price is ridiculous.
With all the absurd WiFi version price tags, we wonder what the official Samsung Galaxy Tab 3G pricings are going to be? Let us know if you have any idea by leaving comments below!
Quote from Samsung:
It's Time for Better Multitasking.... Use multiple Android Apps at once, resize widgets and customize your experience - it's all possible with Android 3.1 Honeycomb and Samsung's TouchWiz interface. Priced @ $469
Summary: Toshiba is looking to hop in the mad-rat-race with another tablet PC, the AT200 which will take iPad 2 & Galaxy Tab head on.
You must be aware of the fact that Toshiba has already jumped on the bandwagon with its initial attempt of crafting a rather bulky looking Thrive tablet which had a limited market appeal.
Looks like Toshiba has learned quite a lot from earlier mistakes with the Thrive model, and are looking to bring AT200 to the market which is only 7.7mm thick and weighs at 558 grams. Interestingly, it is bit thinner than both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Apple iPad 2 tablets. However, you will notice a lot of features similar to Thrive in Toshiba AT200. To increase the functionality of the tablet, you will find variety of ports, for example: Micro-HDMI, Micro-USB, MicroSD, etc etc…
Toshiba also claims that once charged, the battery has a capability of an eight-hour media playing. Other major specifications in this 10.1” device are of 1280*800 screen resolution, 1GB RAM, 1.2 GHZ TI OMAP4 Dual-Core processor and up to 64 GB storage.
We have no specific date for the release of Toshiba AT200 in North America; however, it is expected to be launched in Europe at the end of the year 2011. Will you consider buying this tablet PC?
Samsung’s legal battle with Apple heats up over the potential patent violations by its upcoming tablet pc “the Galaxy Tab”, with Barrister David Catterns revealing a countersue plan to take Apple down in Australia.
In front of Justice Annabelle Bennett, Barrister Catterns stated “Our counter claim will include a cross claim of infringement for a number of Samsung patents that have been infringed by Apple's iPad & iPhone.
Samsung was earlier sued by Apple, after later felt that the device maker was infringing on quite a few patents in Galaxy Tab 10.1, the latest tablet pc being released by Samsung in Australia. Both of the gadget makers had approved to an activity where Samsung will delay its shipment and Apple will study Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 before the proposed release date for possible patent infringements. As per Samsung, Apple’s assertions are baseless, since the claims are being based on the US model of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet.
Council of Apple Australia pointed out that study units of Galaxy Tab 10.1 from Samsung were received late last week and during their investigation, Apple has found Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 allegedly infringing 2-3 patents and were reported accordingly to the respectable court.

Amazon hasn’t really announced the dates of launching their Android tablet, however analysts of The Wall Street Journal are speculating the launch date to be somewhere in and around October, 2011. If we go with the speculative launch dates, Amazon will have only 3 months in hand to make their mark in the tablet market as experts are anticipating the latest entrant to sell close to 5 million tablet pc’s in Q4 of the year 2011.
Since Amazon is willing to take the route of selling “Kindle” at a loss price in order to get more products out there in the market and improve sales through Amazon.com website, which other retailers typically avoid to cut down losses, it might just reach the 5 million mark within the first month of the tablet release. We can witness similar type of frenzy spread out when HP slashed prices to $99/- for Touchpad to get out of tablet pc market. In case of HP Touchpad, people rushed to online websites and offline stores to get a piece of HP’s history making tablet for cheap.
As per Fox News, Apple has been successful in selling almost 30 million iPad tablets since its April, 2010 launch date. Efforts from rival companies like Samsung, Motorola and Research in Motion have been proved futile in offering serious challenge to the market leader, Apple. Earlier in the month, Hewlett-Packard was forced to scrap TouchPad project after making numerous “unsuccessful” attempts in tablet pc market.
Fox News wrote, “Thus far, Apple has had quite a few would-be competitors, but none were able to gain considerable market share. Amazon’s willingness to sell hardware at a loss price, as it did with the Kindle and its potential to gain online market share quickly, makes Amazon a vicious competitor.”
Guess we will have to wait and watch how Amazon’s dream of taking over the tablet pc market by storm pans out.
Earlier, computing was basically limited to a common computer, that’s before the introduction of personal computers or PCs and there were no tablet market in existence. You had to wait in a queue, sign up and reserve a spot for yourself for the system etc. These equipment's were mainly an institutional occurrence and shared for the reason of high production costs.
The history is quite well known in the case of personal computing with IBM PC's taking on the world by blizzard, was successfully overturned by experts, and the x86 based personal computer came into way of life as the de facto PC.
Sit back, relax and ask yourself, “If Apple iPad 2 is part of the personal computers family?” “Is it first in the market to wholly implement a tablet PC approach? Please let us know your comments and do consider new Android tablets (the Samsung Galaxy Tab & Motorola Xoom) while sharing your review…
Our take on Apple iPad as tablet PC
The personal computers existence was a bond of a new cost-effective computing structural design with custom-made computing software values intended to be placed in the hands of general public. The personalized character of this uprising cannot be stressed more.
I view tablet PC as a face of technical progress sculpted after the Microcomputer. In perception after the fact, I would say that the iMac and TRS-80 MC-10 are personal computers. However, most would disagree with the notion that the iMac is an Apple microcomputer and TRS-80 is a microcomputer in itself. I would respond to those notions by saying that a tablet PC is all about utilizing essential computing power with the help of different software applications in a public setting.
Since PC stands for Personal Computer, I strongly believe that an Apple iPad can be called a personal computing gadget or a tablet PC.
In my point of view, I see Apple iPad as a noteworthy spot in development of personal “mobile” computing, where the tablet PC is packaged as a combination of technologies. I would also like to stress that, I do consider tablet in the same layer as laptop computers, in terms of anticipated utilization. And of course in next 10-15 years, we are going to be looking at today’s laptop computers as traditional items with tablet based technology taking over the world tablet PC market.
In my opinion, Apple iPad 2, Motorola Xoom or Samsung Galaxy Tab are all personal computers. The inner technical composition and outer structure of tablet PC appears much similar to a personal computer with a similar software gamut, better known as tablet apps or applications.
With tablet PC getting popular, a lot of other things have gained market attention such as wireless mouse and keyboards, instant-on, gesture etc to point a few. The tablet PCs are all laced with these accessories; however all of these originated in the past in personal computing devices.
Some of the common arguments from people who feel that tablet PCs are not same as personal computers are known to be that they have anticipatory multitasking and require real keyboards to operate. Some also say that PCs require an open working atmosphere and structural design. However, let me make it clear that initial PCs couldn’t multitask at all. And who said that a real keyboard is somehow different from a wireless or virtual keyboard...
At the end, I will conclude by saying that I see siblings of different age when I place my Macbook Pro next to my Apple iPad 2. They both originated from the so called father “Personal Computer” also known as “PC”, and both echo hereditary genes. In due course, one of the products will stand out as winner, and other will depart this life. Or to be blatantly straight-forward, the tablet PC will be the champ!
