IdeaPad A1; a 7” Android Tablet PC from Lenovo for $199

Lenovo prepares to make a debut in the tablet pc market with a best 7-inch IdeaPad A1 Android tablet and is expected to cost less than $200.

Another popular laptop brand name, Lenovo is just entering the already crammed Android tablet market with a yet to announce “IdeaPad A1 tablet”. With a base price of $199, the 7” tablet pc will directly focus on capturing lower-budget consumers.

Looks like Ideapad A1 doesn’t have out-of-the-world hardware specifications, however it may be enough for normal end-users of Android tablet at the given starting price. With a single core 1 GHz model, Lenovo has amplified Gingerbread software (Android 2.3) and managed to keep the starting price low. The 7” screen display holds a resolution of about 1024*600. It will have upto 32GB of hard-drive storage and two cameras.

Lenovo Ideapad A1 Tablet PCLenovo will offer over 200 tablet apps at the official launch optimized for your special needs. And to make an experience worthwhile, you will also have an official Lenovo App Store with an access to Android market.

There is widespread analysis that Android tablets are too high-priced to contend with Apple iPad 2, however it’ll be interesting to see how market reacts to IdeaPad A1 with a low starting price. The $99 rummage sale and market response towards HP’s withdrawn tablet, Touchpad is a good example of how consumers will react to a low-priced tablet pc.

To be honest, the $199 starting price of Lenovo IdeaPad A1 gives it a good chance to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, which is the original 7” Android tablet.

When it comes to Laptops … It often makes sense to “Buy from the Other Guys.”

Let’s begin with an obvious fact: there are dozens and dozens of manufacturers producing and selling best laptops. As might be expected, “the big boys,” the better-known manufacturers – companies like Acer … Hewlett Packard … Compaq … Gateway … Apple … and Dell enjoy the “lion’s share of the market.”

Best LaptopThat should come as no surprise. These companies have advertising budgets … their names are always appearing in print and on TV or the Internet … people know they exist … and, as a result, tend to trust them and buy their products.

The key to their success is advertising. The fact that their corporate and brand names are always being seen results in ordinary consumers believing that they can trust these companies and their products. In most cases, that is true. What is also true is that advertising, especially on a regional or national level, is expensive. These companies spend “big bucks” to let you know they exist.

And, it should not surprise you at all to learn that they pass on the cost of their advertising to you, the consumer, in the form of higher prices for their products, including, of course, laptops.

Do higher prices assure greater quality? In some cases, the answer may be yes. But, in many cases, the answer is an emphatic no. Higher prices for products like laptops are merely the result of costly advertising budgets. So:

If you’re thinking of buying a new portable computer, a laptop, consider purchasing it from a lesser-known manufacturer. Notice: I didn’t say a “lesser” manufacturer, someone whose products “don’t measure up.” No … I said a lesser-known manufacturer … a company whose name you may not recognize at first glance.

There are scores of such companies selling laptops and their products are worthy of purchase because they are good … and they are less expensive than similar laptops being offered for sale by “the big guys.

Consider the names of just a few of these excellent companies. They include: Hautec … Lenovo … Medcon … emachines … Meebox … and many, many others. The list is actually very extensive.

Then … there is a second tier of companies, many of whom are probably known to you for other products, not laptops. This group includes: Packard Bell … Panasonic … Toshiba … and Samsung. Plus, there are additional companies with whom you may be familiar: Phillips … Olivetti … NEC… Hyundai… even Zenith.

Best LaptopThe point is this: you can get a great and reliable laptop without spending a small fortune. Do all of these lesser-known companies produce laptops that will put a smile on your face and make you happy … perhaps yes, but the answer could be no, as well. However, the majority of these companies produce portable computers that will satisfy you. And, as you might expect, you will especially like the price.

So, if a new laptop is in your immediate future, access the Internet, find the names of companies that are not global and look for product reviews. You’ll find a laptop you can like … at a price you’ll love.
