Microsoft announced on Tuesday (May 20th) that Surface Pro version 3 will be the next release of the Surface laptop/tablet combo platform. They called it "...the most powerful, thinnest, and lightest Surface Pro yet. It is a full PC and a brilliant tablet."
MS has had some difficulty penetrating the tablets market in the past, as their hardware has been considered too expensive for what you get. The tablets have also targeted both other tablets as well as laptop replacements with their convertible flip design, but it seems that buyers didn't find huge value in the product to an extent that Microsoft could put a big dent in the market. However, this latest version looks like they are trying harder and have addressed some of the shortcomings of earlier versions, so maybe this will be the one that gets Microsoft back in the game.
